Bottle Trees #2
Two decades ago, while researching
her doctoral thesis, ecologist
Suzanne Simard discovered that
trees communicate their needs and send each other nutrients via a network of latticed fungi buried in the soil — in other words, she found,
they “talk” to each other.
This is number 2 in a series of works showing how trees connect especially after the effects of fire,
drought and disease.
Bottle Trees#2 shows the desert landscape after a bushfire, and how one Bottle tree reached out to
2 burnt burnt trees to help start the process of regeneration.
