Pollock Series 01-06

Jackson Pollock’s work was first introduced to me in the 1970’s.

Through a friend in Canberra,

I was lucky enough to be invited to view ‘Blue Poles’ not long after its arrival and unpacking.

This followed its controversial purchase by James Mollison for

the (then yet to be built) ‘National Gallery Australia’ in Canberra.

It aroused an interest to learn more about thIs man and his amazing work. This series,

‘Pollock’, is an experiment in

‘Art Biography'.Spanning a period of Jackson Pollock’s life (1939-1956) -  it is centred on his life before and during his discovery and development of ‘drip painting’.

These paintings are not an attempt

to reproduce his work, but to enjoy what he discovered and interpret

his life in my own way.
